October is domestic abuse awareness month. As we go into the month I want to remind you of some things I have learned along the way:

It takes a victim of abuse (on average) 7 attempts of leaving their abuser to finally leave.

The most violent abuse (and often death) occurs AFTER the victim has left their abuser.

Abuse can rewire your brain and nervous system.

If you grew up in an abusive situation often people that are mean to us feels like coming home.

You are stronger and more capable than you even know.

There is help out there, and usually the help comes in surprising ways.
